Neighbourhood Watch
The Bricket Wood Neighbourhood Watch Association was founded in 1995. It was developed from a small scheme close to the Black Boy public house, which was started in 1993, and it now covers the whole Village. The original scheme was launched by the Mayor of St Albans, Mrs Sheila Burton, who unveiled the first sign.
In 1997 a Neighbourhood Watch 'Fun Day' was held to celebrate Bricket Wood becoming the first village in Hertfordshire with 100% neighbourhood watch coverage. It was opened by Councillor Sheila Burton, and Superintendent Colin Westwood of the St Albans Police.
The event was organised in conjunction with the MENCOP charity, with the proceeds going to assist a local disabled boy.
